Three kilometres from Cap Gris-Nez, Audresselles is a very pretty fishing village that has kept its wild, natural character. Its fishermen still work the flobart tradition — big, keel-less, pot-bellied boats hauled onto the sand by tractor — and sell their catch straight to visitors who love the delicacies of the Opal Coast. As you wander through the village, you'll spot traditional fishermen's cottages.

The questions people ask before coming
Can you buy fish straight from the fishermen in Audresselles?
Yes, at the top of the beach, next to the flobarts. There's no set time or sign: it happens whenever the boats come in, depending on the tide and the weather.
When is the Crab Festival in Audresselles?
On Whitsun weekend. The village fills up, and it's the moment you'll eat the cheapest crab on the coast.
Are there seals in Audresselles?
Grey seals have been spotted every year less than fifty metres from the beach since 2006. Watch them from a distance — approaching a seal puts it in danger.
Information about the town
A small fishing village, Audresselles draws visitors for its closeness to Cap Gris-Nez and its two beaches, separated by the Côte de Fer: one left wild, the other for swimming. Several grey seals have been spotted every year less than 50 metres from the beach since 2006. Since 1907, undersea telephone cables linking France and England still run through here.
