Nicknamed the wild girl of the Opal Coast, Équihen-Plage is a small seaside resort loved by visitors for its unspoiled natural surroundings. A former fishing village, its 3-kilometre beach is patrolled by lifeguards every summer. Sailing, flysurfing, sea kayaking and sand yachting are all practised here throughout the year.

Getting there and parking
By car from Boulogne-sur-Mer along the coast, in fifteen minutes. Équihen is the first village south of Le Portel.
The car park is at the top of the cliff: the beach is reached on foot down the slope. Plan for this if you're carrying gear.
The questions people ask before coming
Are dogs allowed on Équihen beach?
Yes, on a lead, which is rare on the Opal Coast. It's one of the reasons the beach is popular outside the summer season.
Can you sleep in the 'quilles en l'air'?
Yes, these former fishermen's dwellings shaped like upturned boats are rented out. They book up very early for summer.
Why is Équihen called the wild girl of the Opal Coast?
For its natural surroundings, kept intact: the cliff, La Crevasse cove, and building far more discreet than in the neighbouring resorts.
Information about the town
Équihen-Plage's long beach, dog-friendly on a lead and supervised, draws thousands of visitors every summer. The 'quilles en l'air', traditional fishermen's dwellings, offer a place to stay during your time on the Opal Coast. For lovers of hiking, cycling routes and water sports such as sand yachting, flysurfing or sea kayaking, Équihen-Plage is certainly one of the destinations to pick.
If you'd like to try these water sports elsewhere on the Opal Coast, Audresselles, Le Portel and Wimereux are also excellent spots. To round off your tour of the coast, the town of Samer offers a rather different but equally enjoyable stroll.
