Wimereux is a popular seaside resort on the Opal Coast, a stone's throw from Boulogne-sur-Mer. Its beach and its long, 1,500-metre sea wall, lined with white and blue beach huts, make it the coast's most iconic place for a walk.
Its architectural riches arguably make it the pearl of the coast: the Belle Époque villas, built in the 19th century for industrialists and shipowners, can now be explored freely, each one carrying a QR code that tells its story.

On a free, self-guided walk: each villa carries a QR code that tells its story. No guide or booking needed.
When's the best time to walk along Wimereux's sea wall?
Late in the day: the sea wall faces due west and the sun sets right along it. It's also the quietest time to go.
What to do in Wimereux with children?
The beach and the sea wall, board sports at the sailing club from age eight, and La Pointe aux Oies for a first short hike.
Information about the town
Wimereux suits board sports: the wind sweeping the coast here makes surfing, sailing, kitesurfing, wing foiling and kite flying all possible. The sailing club runs sand-yachting and catamaran courses, equipment rental, and also 'longe-côte', paddleboarding and kayaking.
The nearby Two Capes site offers many waymarked hiking and cycling trails: La Pointe aux Oies, the Slack dunes, the cliffs, and the Imperial Path, which sets off from the foot of the Grande Armée column and reaches Boulogne in a 14 km loop.
