On this page
Le Touquet is a seaside resort in the Pas-de-Calais, in the Hauts-de-France region. Very (very) popular with Parisians and foreign visitors, it used to be called Le Touquet Paris-Plage. Sitting at the mouth of the Canche, south of Boulogne-sur-Mer, it carries a few grand nicknames:
The Arcachon of the North
Garden of the Channel
Pearl of the Opal Coast
Paradise of sports
The resort of four seasons
Le Touquet is by far the most elegant town on the Opal Coast, with a vast forest and a striking architecture drawn from Anglo-Norman style. Every weekend and holiday period, it welcomes large numbers of people coming to spend time at their second home. Naturally, this resort is also the busiest and most expensive in the region.
France's President Emmanuel Macron himself owns a lovely villa here, where he regularly spends short breaks.

Getting there and parking
By car on the A16, Le Touquet exit, then the estuary road. A little over two hours from Paris, which explains the strong Parisian presence.
By train to Étaples-Le Touquet, then ten minutes by taxi or bus. Le Touquet's airport also handles business and tourist flights.
The questions people ask before coming
Is Le Touquet expensive?
It's the most expensive resort on the coast, terraces and accommodation included. Check the menu before you sit down. The beach, the forest and the cycle paths, on the other hand, cost nothing.
What to do in Le Touquet besides the beach?
The pine forest and its cycle paths, the covered market, Parc de l'Estuaire, the museum and a stroll through the villa streets. The resort fills a whole day without ever setting foot on the sand.
When should you avoid Le Touquet?
Long weekends and August, when the resort is packed and parking is difficult. September and June offer the same Le Touquet without the crowds.
Information about the town
Almost 250 km from Paris, Le Touquet is easily reached by car and by train (or even by plane) from the capital; a little over 2 hours is all it takes to get there.
Rather family-friendly by day, the town gives way to a rather well-known nightlife after dark. It's not unusual to find the restaurants and bars packed, especially in high season. Prices can climb very high, so it's worth checking before you settle in anywhere. As for strolls, a walk, a bike ride or even a Segway ride is well worth it and can take a good few hours if you wander from the town-centre streets out to the residential streets hiding exceptional villas.
Finally, a walk through the centuries-old pine forest is an absolute must, made easy by a protected cycle path. Le Touquet is worth noting for how well it looks after cyclists, thanks to its network of cycle paths.
You'll no doubt enjoy your visit to Le Touquet! (Not exactly a bold prediction.)
