For fans of board sports, Calais is fast becoming the must-visit spot in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais. After a period of works to redevelop the coastline with a new sea wall, the region's largest open-air skatepark has opened there: the Calais Beach Skatepark.
On skateboards, rollerblades, scooters or BMX, there's only one programme at Calais Skatepark: maximum thrills and an exceptional view.
The largest skatepark in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais
After a long period of works, sometimes delayed by the Covid health crisis, Calais Skatepark has been open to riders since July 2021.
To riders' great delight, this outdoor ground, dedicated exclusively to board sports, boasts a brand-new structure of 4,000 m², more than half of which is given over to riding, and which looks straight out onto the beach.
An exceptional size and setting, which make the Calais Beach Skatepark the largest in the region. Since its opening, various events have been held there. And the site could well become a major hub for international gatherings. It's also being considered on the fringes of the 2024 Olympics.
The site is popular with both local Calais riders and tourists of all kinds passing through the region. That's because numerous facilities allow young and old alike to have fun.
The space is divided into several zones for different board sports, under the best possible safety conditions.

How is the Calais Beach Skatepark laid out?
The beach skatepark in Calais is equipped with a range of features to let everyone have fun. Beginners or experienced riders, young or old, the facility caters to everyone.
The children's area
One zone of the Calais skatepark is dedicated to little ones, like a giant sandpit. The classic children's play equipment is installed there: slides, swings, climbing frames…
For children who want to ride like the grown-ups, or for beginners, a mini ride area has been set up at the skatepark. There you'll find small bumps, a mini bowl and a mini rail — features similar to those for adults, in miniature form for measured thrills.
The flow park
4 bowls follow one after another in one zone of the Calais Beach Skatepark, known as the flow park. Riders have fun with the curves on these small bowls. Speed, line… rides become more refined and precise on this kind of feature.
The street park
The street park is the largest and most varied zone of the Calais Plage skatepark. No less than 1,000 m² is devoted to board sports there. Ramps, rails, kickers… every type of feature riders love is present in force.
The bowl
A giant bowl sits right in the middle of the Calais skatepark. Its XXL surface is structured to offer various depths. The inside of the bowl covers 650 m².
Getting to the Calais skatepark
In Calais, the skatepark is located along the digue Gaston Berthe, right on the beach and close to the multi-sports complex and the youth hostel.
Nearby car parks make it easy to access.
Access to the skatepark is free and unlimited, for everyone. Being an outdoor skatepark, it can be used all year round. For safety reasons, however, access is forbidden on rainy days.
There's no minimum age to visit the Calais skatepark. Thanks to the various dedicated zones, safety is ensured. So, children up to the age of 8 enjoy the kids' area reserved for them.
From age 8, access to the Bowl, the street park and the flow park is permitted.
Alone, with family or with friends, the Calais Beach Skatepark is the ideal spot for a free day out in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais, combining sport and fun.
