The Opal Coast in Spring: An Ideal Destination

Anne · 3 min read

Here come the lovely spring days again. The kind that make you want to get outside and stretch your legs. There's a sense of escape in the air, of renewal. You can't wait to see the landscapes wake up, long slowed by the winter chill. The Opal Coast reinvents itself too. With plenty of outings, activities, walks and lovely hours of escape, the Opal Coast makes an ideal destination in spring!

Why spring is the best season to visit the Opal Coast

    • Who still thinks it's always grey up North? The pronounced oceanic climate along the Hauts-de-France coast means relatively mild winters and very sunny summers. Le Touquet even recorded more hours of sunshine in spring 2020 than some towns on the Côte d'Azur!
    • Visitor numbers aren't too high yet, so you can enjoy the vast beaches, the walking trails, the museums and other tourist activities without the crowds of high season.
    • Spring means the Easter weekend and the May bank holidays. Make the most of these days off to plan a great weekend on the coast ! A dream destination to celebrate the return of good weather, watch nature burst into life with incredible colours across the landscape, and enjoy temperatures that warm the heart.

An ideal destination for plenty of activities

Flea market season returns to the Opal Coast

The first to arrive are the collectors, out hunting from early morning among stalls barely set up, looking for that rare find. For others, it's a lovely family outing, a chance to stroll and enjoy themselves without breaking the bank. Or you can simply enjoy a post-lunch stroll and indulge your curiosity. Either way, there's always a good reason to wander among the flea markets and car boot sales held in many towns along the coast.

Fresh and local: discover the markets of the Opal Coast

Plenty of local producers' markets offer seasonal regional produce every week. The daily markets (like the traditional fish market in Boulogne-sur-Mer) or weekly ones are always a great chance to clear your head while filling your baskets with delicious food!

The scallop festival in Étaples
