Depending on the length of your outing, gear up accordingly to face winter temperatures, the wind, and highly changeable weather conditions. Cap Blanc-Nez and Cap Gris-Nez are the starting points for numerous circuits and hiking trails that will delight lovers of the nature and biodiversity of the Two Capes site. You can park for free at the foot of the capes.

Walking trails and hikes around the capes

Cap Blanc-Nez hike

  • The Cap Gris-Nez loop: around 4.5 km, starting from Escalles.
  • Le Sentier des Crans: around 12 km, taking you as far as Audresselles, starting from the Maison du Site in Audinghen.
  • Le Chemin des Douaniers: a stretch of the GR 120 hiking trail: 7 km there and back, suitable for the whole family. A breathtaking view over the Pointe aux Oies.
  • Les Berniques: an easy 1.5-hour walk starting from Tardinghen.
  • Les Balcons d'Escalles: an 8 km trail (2 hours). Starting from the town hall square.
  • Le Sentier du Fartz: 4.6 km, starting from Wissant.
  • Le Sentier des Peintres de l'École de Wissant: from 3 to 7 km in its longer version, starting from the Wissant tourist office.

Cycling routes on the Two Capes site

Facilities let you make the most of your outdoor outing. You can louer facilement un vélo, electric or standard (ouch, those calves!), to explore the capes. Whether you're a keen cyclist or a beginner, you'll find what you're after with these ideas for cycling routes between land and sea, real links between Cap Blanc-Nez and Cap Gris-Nez:

  • Circuit Terre des Deux Caps: 38 km, starting from Wissant. Cycling on the Opal Coast
  • The Vélomaritime/EuroVélo 4 runs between Boulogne and Calais: this 52 km stretch offers views over the English coast, and you'll pass through picturesque villages.
  • Numerous loops starting from the Maison du Site des Deux Caps offer immersive rides of 10 to 25 km.
