Visiting the Opal Coast? Things can get pretty busy given the sheer number of tourist sites in the region. For those travelling by car, there are several places to park your vehicle safely. Here's a non-exhaustive list of these car parks.
Parking in Calais
For visitors arriving on the Opal Coast by car, there are various types of car parks available.
Free parking
There are large free parking areas dotted around the town of Calais, including two car parks in the town centre. These are notably place du Soldat Inconnu and quai du Rhin. To the north, Boulevard des Alliés and Boulevard de la Résistance offer free parking for your car.
Paid parking
Beyond the free spots, you'll find more than 455 paid parking spaces in the town centre. However, you get a free half hour of parking and extra services on weekends from Saturday at 12pm, as well as during public holidays. Rates are as follows: €1 = 1 hour, €1.50 = 1 hour 30 and €2 = 2 hours.
Free parking with a limited time
In the area, you'll find car parks offering limited-time parking. While some offer a one-hour service, others go beyond an hour with a parking disc. In this category is "Cœur de vie", a shopping centre in the town centre. It has 2 levels with a 720-space car park, fully covered, in a monitored, well-lit area. You can get up to 1 hour 30 minutes of parking with no obligation to shop in store.
